The Blue Sky Family Club is your healthy alternative to Chucky Cheese. Or it's your new rainy day go-to spot.

Tucked away in the Emeryville Public Market, there is a playhouse with dress-up costumes, a small climbing structure, vast art area (4 tables with different projects going), climbing wall for big kids, and a changeable area with big mats, balls, and zooming little cars. And did I mention the full kitchen?

Whitney and I have been several times in different parent/child configurations since the grand opening last month. She takes 15 month Scarlett when she has time to kill before nap. We also like to bring all four of the kids for after-preschool playdates. So far, we've been able to closely supervise the one year olds while letting the three year olds run a little further afield.

The whole club is small enough -- and well-staffed enough -- that you can give preschoolers a little room to wander and explore without totally losing track of them.

What else? Blue Sky is brand new and open to parent suggestions. They're offering Music Together Classes, regular concerts by the Sippy Cups (including one this Sunday!), and considering themes like Dad's Nights Out for Monday Night Football.

Holden loves this place. He asks to go all the time now. He is happy to be a mini billboard and wear temporary tattoos (get them at the front desk) on his arm for as long as they'll last.

I like that I can catch up with my own friends while he trots around and plays. I like that there's plenty for Milo to do as well.

On the flip side, without a membership, I think the drop-in rates are prohibitively expensive. So, check out the coupon and let's play together all October long.
